First opened in 1860 it served as the first big train station on the Austrian-Germany border and the Western Austria in general. The station has gone under the complete renovation from 2009 to 2014 when it got its modern and classy look. But the construction works didn't affect some historical leftovers: the central platform and station's main hall. Within 15 minutes from the station you can reach Salzburg's Altstadt - the Old Town.
